If you want to have the best property for sale in Marbella you need a help of Artisan ceramic.
Tucked away in a quiet street 100 metres from a Mijas beach, an artisan ceramic tile display bursts with colour, life and energy.
A pleasant surprise any time of day, local residents, shoppers and passers-by are treated to a vibrant – and entirely free – open air art gallery.
Displayed above their heads, inset in four Andalusian arches, are eight large, highly dramatic ceramic tile designs depicting classic Spanish cultural scenes, picture postcard representations captured by uniquely engaging imaginations.
Step into the sun-drenched courtyard and you´re greeted by a kaleidoscope of colour adorning a gracious stone tiled staircase: five serene seaside scenes lovingly hand-painted on white ceramic tiles each measuring 15 x 15cm – seven tiles in width, five in height, that´s 35 tiles per scene, 175 tiles in total. Every one hand drawn, painted, fired and glazed before being hand-packed or assembled for secure shipping to awaiting exhibitions and admirers. And this is just the first of fifty scenes throughout the property.
Subdued three-colour artworks to powerful bold pieces are influenced by the clean cut, sharply defined, minimalist tendencies of the German Modern Art movement, juxtaposing patterns and shapes to create free-flow jigsaw designs.
In the uniquely creative hands of Dieter and Sigrid, Pictures On Tiles are simple expressions of our inner emotions. Indoors and along the massive terrace arched walls, it´s a feast for the eyes and stimulating experience for the senses as we almost smell a blooming flower; come face-to-face with a sensuous Señorita; envy the relaxed pose of a naked couple in love; layback in the mini-gallery Jacuzzi; or dive in the pool to meet beautiful tiled sirens.
Retired to the Costa del Sol twenty years ago, the couple brought with them their burning passion for painting on canvas, ceramic and card. A living room wall bears witness to a fine art portrait of a Moor playing a fiddle, painted by Dieter at the tender age of 15, winning him a school competition prize. They´re now in their 70s.
Fulfilling requests from around the world, wife Sigrid showed the 1 x 1.4 metre `Knight on Horseback´ in progress for a villa owner in Gran Canaria, proving that homes anywhere graced with distinctive colourful décor add a touch of personal sophistication.
Pictures On Tiles Gallery is open on reduced winter hours, so enjoy a unique viewing of our Ceramic Art Gallery.
