Marbella have the best Houses for sale in costa del sol and continues to consolidate its position among Europe’s prime luxury destinations. Figures just released by Luxury Spain show that sales of luxury goods in Marbella accounted for 22 per cent of the total in Spain, the second highest in the country ahead of Madrid and Mallorca. Furthermore, luxury goods sales are expected to grow above the national rate in Marbella during 2014.
Marbella lies second only to Barcelona in its privileged position as a centre for luxury goods and is the one of Spain’s ambassadors for the luxury ‘Made in Spain’ brand. Sales are forecast to reach €5.4 billion by the end of this year, a 5.5 per cent increase on 2013, figures that confirm Marbella’s popularity as a luxury location.
Within Europe, Marbella is one of the top luxury locations, attracting high-income tourists from all over the globe. The foundations for this reputation were first established in the 1960’s when European aristocrats and celebrities were drawn to Marbella’s exceptional climate and surroundings. Since then, Marbella has added an impressive number of luxury attractions to its tourist profile.
These include Puerto Banús, the most luxurious marina in Spain and a favourite mooring spot with the world’s rich and famous. As well as luxury boats, the marina also showcases the most exclusive designer boutiques in the world. Marbella has no less than 15 golf courses nearby, all of which boast world-class installations and several regularly hold prestigious golf tournaments.
Another of Marbella’s top luxury attractions is its property market. Some of the finest properties in Europe are here, situated in prime locations such as La Zagaleta, El Madroñal and the Golden Mile, all highly sought-after by discerning clients. The demand for high-end property in Marbella has experienced important growth since the implementation of the ‘Golden Visa’, a residence permit for buyers of homes costing over €500,000.
Reflecting Marbella’s position as a top luxury destination is the annual Marbella Luxury Weekend, a well-established event on the city’s calendar. The 2014 edition held earlier this month saw a record number of participants and sponsors as well as attendees. Over 50 high-end brands and 70 companies exhibited during the 3-day event where highlights included the Marbella Luxury Catwalk showcasing the very best in luxury fashion and jewellery, presentations of cars by Pagani and Porsche, and catering by Michelin-starred chef, Dani García.
