If you’re thinking of moving to the Costa del Sol in 2018, you might be wondering what you’ll fill your time with. Aside from the obvious (shopping, beaches, restaurants, bars and the myriad evening entertainment options), there are plenty of social activities and hobbies you can get involved with here.
Life on the Costa del Sol is as rich as you allow it to be; it just means getting out there and immersing yourself in what the region has to offer. If you’ve already got your property on the Costa del Sol, well, congratulations! If you’re still looking for that dream house for sale in Marbella, then the best is yet to come.
Whatever the case, rest assured that there are many things you can do here to make your dreams come true in 2018. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
- Indulge in some wine tasting
Wine tasting is a popular pursuit here in Marbella, and it’s something that never really gets old! It doesn’t matter whether you’re a vino newbie or a wine tasting connoisseur; sipping on the finest wines, savouring them and finding favourites to add to your wine cellar.
It’s a great way to spend an afternoon or evening, with friends or alone. You’re bound to make new friends at wine tasting events, and you can even host your own private wine tasting parties. It’s a win-win situation!
- Join a language school
There are several language schools around Marbella, so why not join one? Learning a new language can be great fun. It may be challenging at first, but it’s very rewarding when you start to make progress.
Learning Spanish is a great way to immerse yourself into the local community, and you can guarantee and easier time of it wherever you go in the country. No more confusion and miscommunications!
That’s not such a problem on the Costa del Sol with so many English speakers around, but having some Spanish under your belt can only be a bonus. Plus, it’s yet another way to make new friends!
- Take up a new sport or fitness activity
Now that we’re in January, there are probably a few New Year’s resolutions being brushed under the carpet. That’s normal, but wouldn’t it be rewarding to stick to one?
Marbella has so much to offer in terms of sporting, fitness and general outdoor activities. There are countless hiking opportunities and hiking clubs available so you can do it with others too.
There are also a couple of tennis clubs, lots of golf clubs, and some horse riding, football, and rugby. Yoga is another thing that’s easy to find here, and the fitness clubs are generally quite special if you just fancy a general work out.
- Join meet up and make friends
When you first move to a new place, it can feel a little lonely before you make new friends. You may spend time missing the old ones, perhaps even having forgotten how you made those friends in the first place!
In case you haven’t come across it yet, there is a website called MeetUp.com and it is set up in most countries in the world. There you can find activities to your liking, and sign up to go and attend with likeminded people.
It’s a good way to find a new hobby too; on meetup.com you can find everything from meditation groups to language exchange and even shamanic groups. Most things are free, or a nominal fee is required. No excuses!
- Hobbies for the kids
Perhaps you’re coming to Marbella with your family. You’ll be pleased to know there are plenty of after school and weekend activities for children too; if not more than there is for the adults!
It might be choosing that’s the hard part. Fortunately there is an extensive list of kids’ afterschool activities all in one place. They can choose from a range of different martial arts, several boys’ football clubs, and skating and skateboarding.
Girls might be particularly pleased with the dance class options; this could be their time to learn ballet, Latin or ballroom? Modern dancing, street dance, hip-hop and even cheerleading is possible.
To exercise their minds, there are chess clubs, language clubs, and cooking clubs. If you’re lucky, they’ll soon be the ones cooking up the evening meal for the family! As you can see, Marbella has something for everyone. There was never a better time to move here than 2018; a fresh year, a fresh start and a refreshment of your social life and hobbies. If there’s anything we can help with, let us know!
