If there is anywhere worth celebrating New Year’s Eve, it’s Marbella. This sparkly city comes alive more than ever in the month of December, with New Year’s Eve being the day that most look forward to. It’s the day they can indulge with reckless abandon in the many delights this city has to offer.
Those who live here already can tell you that it’s the place to be all year round… so if you’ve been thinking of securing yourself one of the many glorious properties for sale in Marbella, take it from them, it’s a smart move. In fact, the New Year is the perfect time to invest in your dream Costa del Sol property, wherever it may be.
If you’re lucky enough to be here over the Christmas season, be sure not to miss out on some of the great events happening this New Year’s eve. Here are a few we think will be of interest:
The party: The Great Gatsby New Years Eve party
This exclusive event at Cathedral, Puerto Banus, promises to be a spectacular one. Even Marbella will be hard pushed to come up with something more exciting if you’re a 1920s fan.
A ticket to this event promises you a whole host of live entertainment, including a live Gatsby band and DJs, Gatsby dancers and special performers decked out in the finest 20s attire, and a phenomenal fireworks display… all for just 60 euros.
Naturally you’ll want to deck yourself out in your most sophisticated 1920’S attire. On arrival you’ll be greeted with a glass of bubbly and some canapés to whet your appetite. Between 8pm and midnight there’s an open bar offering you the special Gatsby drinks menu.
If, as it’s New Year’s Eve, you want to go all out – then do! Secure a VIP table for 100 euros, and you and your friends will be able to watch the evening unfold in the ultimate style. For this you’ll also get your welcome drinks and canapés, but you’ll have a VIP table service all night too. For 50 euros more you can access the private VIP area and buffet too. Get a ticket here.
The dining experience: La Sala Restaurant, Puerto Banus
Since 2010 La Sala has become known as one of the finest dining experiences in Puerto Banus, so it makes sense that this would be a prime choice for a New Year’s Eve celebration. The restaurant is set up for socialising, with its various different areas for eating, drinking and whiling away a few hours with your closest friends.
The decked terrace at the front is a popular spot for chilling out and people watching, which is more fun than ever on New Year’s Eve. In the restaurant you’ve got an extremely classy bar area where you can relax on sofas or position yourself at a lofty height on one of the tall tables. If you’re a large group and prefer a little privacy, you can get that with a private dining room.
There is yet another terrace out the back which gives you a view of Marbella’s La Concha mountain; quite an exhilarating sight on any night of the year, but a perfect New Year’s Eve backdrop for sure.
On the diverse menu you can choose from Spanish and international dishes, with seasonal ones prepared for the Christmas period.
On New Year’s Eve La Sala go all out; they aspire to make your party memorable for years to come. If you want the full details, contact La Sala or drop in for a Christmas brochure. They fill up fast, as you may expect – but if you’re too late you can try the OAK Garden and Grill, their latest (and equally fabulous) addition to the Sala Group.
The budget-friendly / children friendly options
If you’re on more of a budget, or looking for children-friendly ideas, fear not… there’s still so much to choose from. How about an afternoon of tango in Marbella’s Alameda Park? Every year a captivating – and free – show happens in the park’s temple at 9pm; it attracts the crowds so get there early for a good view.
If you’re envisaging something more traditional, join the masses in the Parish of Our Lady of the Incarnation. You’ve got two options: 08.30 or 19.30.
There’s also a New Year’s Eve party in the Plaza de la Iglesia, which as you can imagine is going to be a busy one, but there’s nothing like a vibrant Spanish street party to induce some festive smiles.
Don’t forget to scour the net for an abundance of other celebratory options in this marvelous city. We are more than sure that by time you’re done, you’ll want permanent access to the enticing vibes here… at which point you might want to pick up the phone to Paradise Marbella!
