There are many reasons to purchase a property in or around the beautiful Spanish city of Marbella. With the year round sunshine, the stunning vistas and the internationally renowned shopping, there are few places on earth that can compete.
What’s more, nothing stimulates the senses like fine food, and Marbella has a thriving food and drink scene that can satisfy your taste buds in abundance. It’s not just the restaurants; there are also delis and markets dotted all over, selling the finest local produce to make entertaining guests in your new home a show-stopping food odyssey.
Eating out in Marbella al fresco with the warm mediterranean breeze is a delight you can enjoy all year round. From chic bistros to cosmopolitan restaurants and the more traditional tapas bars, Marbella really does have it all. With new restaurants opening every year, you’ll never be short of options. We’ve sifted through to find some of our favourites and our stomachs can wholeheartedly recommend them:
- Villa Tiberio
On Marbella’s Golden Mile, Villa Tiberio is just steps away from the Marbella club and resort and offers an unrivalled dining experience. Yet it’s more than just a dining experience – it’s a meeting place where royalty, diplomats and international celebrities dine alongside locals and holidaymakers. Opened by famous restaurateur Sandro Morelli whose resume is perhaps one of the most astounding in the business, this place has it all.
As you can perhaps already tell, the experience here goes beyond the food and the beautiful Marbella property; all the touches are present, from the friendly parking attendant that greets you to the perfumed pergolas that line the entrance way. Photos of Sean Connery and Shirley Bassey adorn the wall, reminding patrons of a sophistication that is both timeless and welcoming.
The food menu is largely Italian with plenty of Spain’s finest ingredients included in many of the dishes. The wine list must be seen to be believed; needless to say it caters for the Royalty that could walk through the door at any minute.
- Paco Jimenez Marbella Arte Culinario
The location couldn’t be more perfect, nestled in the central square of Marbella’s old town, it is the quintessential spanish dining experience. Head chef Paco Jimenez has been doing his thing since the early seventies and is widely regarded as a master of Spanish cuisine. Being a family run business the staff are a tight knit crew, and this is reflected in the warm welcome you’ll receive on arrival.
The menu itself is wonderfully simple and Spanish, with succulent meats and fresh fish to satisfy the most discerning of taste buds. Be sure to save room for dessert and the restaurant’s famous Tatin De Manzana.
For the carnivores and lovers of all things meaty, you will be hard pushed to find a meatier heaven than Vovem. Meat is taken very seriously here, from sourcing to ensuring the correct maturation process, to how it’s treated by their award winning chefs on the grill. Vovem’s barbecue/butcher chefs are always on hand to give the best advice on how to get the most from your dining experience.
More than ten varieties of beef from all over the world are available including Aberdeen Angus, Wagyu, Kobe and the famous beef of Bodega El Capricho, considered by the New York Times as the best beef in the world. All meat is treated is with utmost care and respect with aromas from the oak coal barbecue taking the flavours to new heights. Tapas for long lazy lunches is also on offer.
- TIBU Rooftop Restaurant
For a more hedonistic night of partying, TIBU rooftop restaurant offers the perfect solution to get any night off on the right foot. The elaborate Pan Asian menu is light enough to ensure you’re ready for the dance floor, yet bursting with flavour to tantalise your senses.
Dining under the stars is certainly our prefered way of kick-starting a night celebrating with friends. Despite being next to TIBU nightclub the vibe stays relaxed, making it an enjoyable, carefree dining experience. After dining you can also enjoy free VIP entrance into Linekers or TIBU nightclub.
- Bar El Estrecho
Let’s keep things real, if you’re in southern Spain’s finest city of Marbella, having just moved into your brand new Marbella property, the first thing you’ll want to know is where the best Tapas bar is. Bar El Estrecho isn’t the easiest place to find but it’s well worth the effort, located down a side street about 200m from Orange Square; it’s a hidden gem. The menu is wonderfully varied with fresh meats, fish, vegetables and cheeses all waiting to be sampled and cooked to perfection.
The classics are all here in abundance with some El Estrecho’s specialities giving a truly unique tapas experience. The sardines in lemon batter, octopus salad and croquettes never disappoint and with the dishes being small, you can drift long into the afternoon sampling the exquisite menu.
