After attending the recent International Business and Trade in Málaga Roundtable at Andalucia Lab Tourism Innovation Centre in Marbella, Paradise Marbella Realty can testify to the fact that residential tourism and technological infrastructure highlighted as principal engines of growth help attract new visitors and residents to the region and have very helpful apps to search properties in costa del sol Spain
With this mission in mind, the Research and Studies department of Marbella Town Hall Tourism Delegation has launched its Residential Tourism Survey 2015 to assess the profile of the town´s residential tourism population, recognising a residential tourist “as the person taking another residence, chooses Marbella to rent or buy a property and lives there most of the year.”
The Survey calls for citizen cooperation “to provide qualitative and quantitative data necessary to address the phenomenon, needs, problems and demands of both Spaniards and foreigners who choose Marbella as a residential destination.”
For the benefit of tourists and residents alike, meanwhile, Málaga Town Hall has launched six new mobile apps that put more than 500 pieces of information directly in hands of smartphone users with many more added daily as the networks expand and develop.
The initiative aims to promote transparency and encourage democratic participation, allowing companies to generate wealth developing the six applications using the authority’s information.
The apps have been developed in less than one year using open published data. Three operate from Málaga while the rest operate on an national or international basis, such as Here owned by Nokia in partnership with the Municipal Centre of Information Technology (CEMI).
Centre manager David Bueno describes its work as: “Development, approval and monitoring plans for information and communications systems of the city of Málaga, installation and maintenance of municipal information systems, as well as the management of the technical infrastructure needed for its operation.”
Apps named Barrios Málaga, Málaga Bici and Málaga CitySense have been developed by local IT engineers and telecommunications specialists – among the breed of local talent driving Málaga´s reputation as an increasingly important, strategically placed hotbed for international technology companies and entrepreneurs.
Specifically, Barrios Málaga app gathers information from more than 400 points across the capital, e.g. visualising the physical distances of post offices on the map or locating one from a current position.
On the other hand, Málaga Bici indicates the nearest bicycle collection points while providing information on cycle lanes.
Málaga CitySense aids civic participation, generating new collaborative experiences of smartphone users across the city.
